A New Symposium, A New Otherness Wine!
Symposium Series No.14 – THURSDAY 25TH JUNE 6-7PM
The next symposium represents a celebration of wine-friendships that were established more than thirty years ago.
It will also be the occasion that we release a new Otherness wine. In true Otherness style, it’s a wine deep in narrative and draws inspiration from both near and far.
The orchestrator of the new wine is an old friend and one of the most credentialed international winemakers that I know, Nigel Sneyd MW. Nigel was part of the cohort of wine professionals that I immersed myself with as I began dabbling in the world of wine while I was working as a teacher and musician back in the late 80s and early 90s. I subsequently stayed with Nigel while he was the director of BRL Hardy’s Domaine de la Baume in Languedoc in 1995.
Also sitting at the table will be two other friends and colleagues from those early Rockford days: Chris Ringland and Lynette Collins. Amongst the wines that we will taste will be a museum release of an RBJ. Remember those Grenache Mataros from way back then? There will also be wines made by Nigel, including a French vintage magnum and a more recent release from his recent tenure as consultant at Cimicky wines here in the Barossa.
There will be other surprises. This promises to be an hour of deep connection with the Barossa’s past as well as a glimpse of winemaking potential in a warmer future.
