Winemaker: Steve Baraglia

Any lover of Australian Riesling holds the Clare Valley in the highest regard and a name that is synonymous with Clare Valley Riesling is Pikes. We were extremely honoured to work with Neil Pike a great friend of ours to establish Urth, a truly inspired wine showcasing the best of Clare Valley Riesling. Since our 2020 release we have been equally thrilled to continue the winemaking legacy under the immensely talented Steve Baraglia; chief winemaker at Pikes and his own brand, Naked Run Wines.

Urth is a premium micro-release made with more than half the fruit fermented in Stainless Steel tank using neutral added yeast and the remainder wild-fermented in barrel, while enjoying texture-enhancing lees contact. The wine is deliciously moreish, slippery, limey and long.

Grown on slate-based soils in Polish Hill River, Clare Valley. Crushed & destemmed. 40% wild barrel ferment. 60% cultured tank ferment. Contains minimal sulphites.

Halliday Wine Companion 202494 Points
“Pale straw in the glass with aromas of freshly squeezed lime juice, grapefruit and crunchy green apple. Hints of crushed stone, light lemon curd tones, jasmine, citrus blossom and lime sorbet. Some textural flesh and an expansive bloom of fresh lime and blossom riding on rails of sapid mineral-laden acidity”. Made by Steve Baraglia. – Dave Brookes.
